[Finished] SF - Three AP Starfinder Campaign (Saturdays, 8-11 EDT)

can’t quite eek a destroyer out of that :frowning: at least not you all want to survive.

ok so i was wrong about making a destroyer, i can do it at Tier 7, and it probably isn’t a goblin deathtrap.

Since it seems everyone has stayed on, even though your original ferrying to Nakondis ended a while ago Vash decided to seek the rest of the parties input.

What are everyones thoughts? I can further boost the transport ship for more defense, and add a computer to help everyone hit more often. (the top ship shown below). Or we can go with a destroyer, its a little more bare bones to start with, but has more room to grow into, at least for more weapons, and defenses. It will always be slower, so the ship to ship gameplay will change a bit, wont be able to avoid as much damage with maneuvering probably. (the second ship shown below).

Well Zabraxas will definitely take the 23k because I doubt I would have near 23k when all is said and done. That gets me some really good armor and a Thunderhead Dragonglaive. Then again I could get some slightly lower level armor and then have enough to get an armor upgrade or two. Then then again the top tier armor I could get has no movement penalty so with the Aeon Stone I have I would get 40 movement speed on land or flying. So 40ft of movement + flying + 15 of reach with a Dragonglaive gives me a good chance to get into melee on my first turn and be flying to be above y’all’s line of fire.

@Findywen Right away it looks like we would be at a big disadvantage weapon-wise with the destroyer starting off. Only 2 forward firing weapons and the only turret is the laser net, which by the sounds of it might not be effective as a big gun. I like the idea of having a destroyer and adding to it, but it will make space combat harder for sure.

yeah - i was considering a torpedo instead of the laser net. The Net is limited to 1 range incremeant (short) for firing, but it provides point defense. So it gave us a little more survivability against missiles/torps etc. I could re-fit a light torp there instead if we want to go just straight damage. My thought was with linked railguns ( and including a single +3 computer node) that as long as we can keep the target in front of us, a gun doing 12d8 + 6d8 for each 5 points above the AC of the target was defensively plenty. And then Draevyn could be in the belly turret smoking waiting till there is a torp or something to hit that got closer to us. :smiley:

but I do agree there are limits to the destroyer, that being said the Destroyer has almost double the number of hull points (which i dont think i included in my original comparison).

I’m fine with either. Since Being the ship engineer I’ll be doing the same on either. Though I would guess I might be doing Divert power to engines more often on the destroyer to give you a more movement than I had to do on the transport.

Well if we want to change it up we can all pilot some little 1 or 2 man fighters maybe

Oh I wasn’t complaining. I embrace my engineeringness. Since it’s the only time during the whole game I have a 90+ percent of making my rolls… even if I roll low.

Also I can’t remember if I trained piloting on Rod. If I didn’t it would be a very short flight and some sort of explosion I am sure. if he was in a fighter.

Yeah, I kind of assumed that would be the case for everyone in the party, which is why I hadn’t considered that a true/good suggestion.

You could weaponize the escape pod and then Zabraxas could fly his “room” around annoying the enemy ship…

Yeah - I had looked at the possibility of having shuttles or fighters on the ship - but that requires a Huge ship from everything i could find. So until you are probably tier 10 at a minimum im not sure it is viable. And that is just a guess on my part, i havent tried fitting out a huge ship. not to mention i havent seen any rules for having multiple ships in the party, for example would would everything be built to the highest tier, or do you have to take tiers away from the mothership to equip the fighters? Or, if we wanted to run with a pair of shuttles, are they each Tier 7, or do we do one tier 3 and one tier 4? Not really pertinent for the current campaign since Vash is really the only pilot (to my knowledge).

Btw, what ship choice did y’all make?

I need to figure out new equipment. for rod. 23K credits. Though I’m not sur e how much my current gear is worth. So might just have to write up a list of wants up to 23k and then just eliminate from the bottom up once i know what I have.

I know i’ll be good to go to play tonight. And not sure what ship Findy eventually decided on.

The total value of the gear on the party sheet is lower than I listed last time. 'Cause most of the consumables (serums, medicinals, grenades, etc) have had their CR cost lowered/errated to make them more useful. This is reflected in the CRB, Armory, etc, but not in the prices from the same items listed in modules.

For example, the Tier 2 sedatives you looted in the last module are not worth 3,000 each (x4 for 12,000 total), their worth only 450 each (for a total of 1,800)!

I don’t have an updated total value. It’ll be a surprise when we sell the items from the party sheet in game.


Well, I just realized…

After we do character entry, go shopping, build/talk about the ship, hand out rewards, wrap up the events of the previous module, etc, the very first encounter of the new AP is of course a starship combat. And it’s a starship combat involving 5 ships (including the party ship)!

So that’ll take what… ~carries the one~… ~attempts to divide by zero~… 3 sessions? :laughing:

Sigh, Just when I thought we could all get mostly level appropriate gear, they torpedo it. I’m going to have to see if I can just go steal some of the armor and weapon schematics from somewhere, just so Rod can maybe craft everyone something level appropriate. while we spend the next 3 weeks in starship combat. I mean He only does something on the Engineering phase, he can craft on the other phases …right …right…

I don’t know what the final value is from the sold gear.

It’s entirely possible that the value of some of y’all’s current gear + 5k reward + value of share of sold gear is more than 23k. If true, then yay! If not, then fine you have 23k (minus cost of existing gear).

No worries… I’m just cranky, got about 3 hours sleep last night… Going to go take a nap soon… so I will be my normal (if that word can be applied to me ever) self tonight during the game…

Don’t forget to budget for:

  • formal wear, swimsuits, loungewear, etc
  • sunscreen, contraceptives, dragon lard, etc
  • spice, death sticks, jellied skin fungus, etc

I guess I was thinking of the Thursday group or something. My sleep schedule has been crap this week so my memory is just shot. But that is great, I am ready to play tonight! The loot situation sounds a bit bummer, I’m worried now that I won’t be able to get my kickass suit of armor and the Thunderhead Dragonglaive I was aiming for. But hey, that would be par for the course for Zabraxas, severely undergeared :smirk: If it comes down to it I’ll skip the weapon( :frowning_face:) and go for the armor.

I was gonna ask if I could get a prosthetic in the time between the end of the last AP and the start of this one, but then I realized I have pretty much no credits right now so I have to wait until we actually do the loot/money thing.
