[Finished] PF2 - Outlaws of Alkenstar (Saturdays, 8-11 EDT)

obviously they didnt make the session zero cut.

And likely they are better off as replacement healers after a few levels have gone by. Or are non-healers entirely, might be interesting to try a group without a true healer, maybe I will switch to one of my melee characters if the healer dies

So I decided to definitely change the character name from Seras to something else. I am thinking probably Kadenza, she would probably answer to Kade or K D as well.

It also just occurred to me that while we talked about our characters a little bit, none of us came up with a way we knew each other at all. So I guess to add to Kadenza’s background, she is not from Alkenstar, she came here at the behest of the temple of Brigh. She is originally from {somewhere else}. I did take the Banished Brighite background, which it think means she was recently (wrongly) ousted by the church, in case that helps tie someone to her.

changed from using “<” to use “{” so that the forums didn’t assimilate my sentence.

I believe Findy intended that she is from the Temple of Brigh originally.

no - I fixed it so it didnt hide the information this time. Basically she is from some place that I dont know, where some other elves probably live. No tragic background here.

Rumbo was a part of the local military. He got into trouble because his squads Lt, who was an abusive sort, was killed in a suspicious way, while he slept. As the squad “specialist” (and frequent target of the Lt) he knew suspicion would fall on him. Rather then try to defend himself in a trial, Rumbo went awol. “Besides”, he thought to himself as he sneaked off…" it was worth it!"

Somewhat in the vein of what Rando was talking about during session 0. I looked into changing my stats a little, and making Wisdom even more of a dump stat. And I just cant make myself do it (i already dropped it to a 16). While none of the party buffs or heals would be effected, If i wanted to use anything like a circle of protection or a debuff then it would completely nerf my ability to rely on those sticking at all.

Right. If yer gonna be a cloistered cleric and have no intention of picking up armor (General Feat, Sentinel archetype, or Champion’s dedication) then you are a full caster and are gonna need to (occasionally) have a high enough DC to affect high(er) level targets. Fear, Calm Emotions, Inner Radiance Torrent, etc.

Summary of Tex Arcana’s long winded backstory I am writing up.

Tex Arcana was born in Varisia, that much he knows but has no idea who his parents are. He was left on the steps of an orphanage as a baby. The orphanage burned down when he was 12 and he ran with a street urchin gang, of which he was basically the leader because he was bigger and tougher than all the rest of them as well as not being stupid either. In his late teens he and other urchins were caught stealing and imprisoned. The corrupt guards and prison warden sold Tex and some of the other urchins to a slaver gang. Tex was bought by a man named Aldous Radaker who was a wizard and entrepreneur; he purchased Tex to act as the man’s bodyguard. Radaker was a student of old practices of sin magic, notably greed. He had visions of wealth and destiny in the distant lands of Alkenstar and for years he and Tex traveled across the lands and waters to reach Alkenstar. Before leaving Varisia Radaker had Tex tattooed with magical ink that he said he would teach Tex to use one day. Along the way Radaker had Tex trained in the ways of fighting and martial skill. He also gave Tex somewhat better education than the simple reading and writing he had learned in the orphanage. Radaker was not like a father to Tex though, he still considered Tex to be a slave and his property and while he was not cruel to Tex, he was by no means affectionate or fatherly in any way. They eventually made their way to Alkenstar where Radaker ran a small-time, but successful criminal enterprise. Tex acted as his bodyguard, chief enforcer and general right hand man, err half-orc and by this time Radaker considered Tex to have paid off the debt of the cost of his purchase and told Tex he was no longer a slave. Tex stayed on with Radaker. Eventually Radaker’s gang stole from the wrong people who sent assassins after Radaker. One night assassins attacked and while Tex was busy fighting some of them another one managed to wound Radaker with a poisoned blade. Tex was also wounded by a poison blade, but resisted the poison thanks to his orcish constitution, but Radaker was not so lucky. Radaker died and the gang fell apart so Tex set out on his own. He currently resides in Alkenstar and acts as a mercenary for hire.

Also art for reference, look @Rando I found character art that looks a lot like the token!

I’m really tempted to use this as my construct when(if) Kadenza gets to level 2:

You can exclaim when anything dies… The wicked witch is dead!!!

For what it’s worth if anyone wants to make character connections prior to session one, my character would make a good bodyguard/hired muscle. I am also open to coming up with some kind of other character connection if anyone wants HMU!

We could have worked together on capers recently, doing a sort of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser vibe. After all, I will often need to work tactically with you to flank.

I’m cool with that. We can randomly reference past jobs with vague comments like

“Remember the noble house job a couple years ago?”
“Oh yeah” chuckles “That was almost as big a mess as this one!”
Both laugh

woohooo session 1

“Don’t forget the one where that vampire drained all our levels, which is why we are starting again at level 1. It’s like having to repeat high school!”

both cry

I would consider doing a couple few/capers/heists/jobs as part of the road to get to lvl 1 anything.

Yeah, absolutely!

Man, I should have taken the Wanted Witness background and then I could have the Read Lips feat :smirk:

Rules question for Rando, as it was suggested I ask the DM: Are daggers considered reload zero weapons (for throwing. I ask because I see a feat that lets be do a double attack with reload zero weapons. If not, would either quick draw or a returning rune to get that effect?

Thanks.
