just got on server , there are 16 spawn zones A6, A10 , C14 , D8 ,E4 ,E12, G7 , H13, I3 J9 , L5, L8, L12, M2, M7, M9 .

On the NA PVE server Hydra’s Den, there’s currently 3 zones to choose from (Tropic, Tundra, Temperate)… so far I’m hearing from others that Tropic (eastern M7) was chosen to test out. Nothing definite yet, seems to be adding more zones as each fills up. Ugh, that will make it challenging to stay together

They are actual Islands within the zones spread across the map. If we want to group up we need to decide on a specific spawn.

SUMMARY/UPDATE FOR FOLKS JUST TUNING IN:

  • The game servers went LIVE about an hour ago.
  • Initial Steam purchasing was overloaded and failed for many the first hour but is working now ($24.99 until Jan 2nd).
  • There are 2 EU servers and 2 NA servers. Choose NA / PVE (aka Hydra’s Den)
  • Similar to ARK you will then choose a start area (Tropic, Temperate, Tundra, High Desert, Low Desert).
  • At the time of this post nothing is definite yet for OTG start area since there’s total chaos and timeouts in the starting zones. However, we do have some playing in the Tropic area so try to aim for that. There are sub-spawn start zones within each climate zone, labeled with letters/numbers. Each can only hold 150 people at a time, which is causing the start zone chaos and timeouts.
  • There is a #Atlas Discord text channel under GAME DEVELOPMENT where you can read additional OTG Atlas news.
  • There is also currently a Discord voice channel hosted by Taramil (very bottom of Discord under TEMP-CHANNELS)

If friends of yours are on the server and playing. you can force yourself into the game and server by joining them thru steam.

Well hopefully by tomorrow they will have most of the startup kinks worked out. Even though it’s a typical rough beginning it’s a good sign that so many gamers are looking forward to escaping from holiday relatives having fun with a new game.

There will eventually be some private servers setup by OTG members with different rulesets and mods and such, much like ARK. So if being on a massive 40k server with a mix of good folks and asshats is too overwhelming, there will be calmer server options down the road.

If anyone is still awake at this hour, they added a lot more starting areas and the player counts for each are reasonable now.

The lag and rubberbanding was too much for me. Maybe in a month or so.
