New 64 bit servers on July 9 - all 32-bit servers closing! Lots to read!

This was just posted - we’ll need a plan for the guild

If we can rouse Gibson for the occasion, I vote we start as soon as practical moving to the existing Cormyr server. I can think of reasons to wait for one of the new ones to come up but none of those outweigh the possibility of arriving to find our character names or even our guild name already taken, which is a very real possibility. Once Gibson is ported and the Guild reestablished we can start the (lengthy, for some) process of packing and unpacking alts.

I haven’t played for a long while and am no longer guilded, but would like to transfer to the same server with all my characters so would like to know where to transfer them. I do play LOTRO and like the new 64 bit servers a LOT!

I had tried to get reguilded a few years ago when I started playing again and never could get an invite so have played unguilded.

I think that makes a lot of sense, great suggestion!

I’m kinda late to seeing this, my bad… I apologize if it has been posted elsewhere, this was the first headline/thread I saw about the change.. that being said, which server are we (OTG) going to relocate?

Cormyr
Shadowdale
Thrane

I’ll probably clear all the shared banks and get all the toons packed this week. Then, next weekend I’ll start transferring both of my DDO accounts. I hope this goes off as smoothly as possible and won’t say more for fear of jinxing things. See ya on the other side at the first tavern Family!

So, has anyone made a decision on the 64-bit server we are moving to?

:backhand_index_pointing_up:

Per the DDO channel on our Discord server it looks like the chosen server to move to is Thrane, but I can’t say it is confirmed.

Thanks for the update Ryuken! Spatz told me that it might be Thrane as well…
I’ll be waiting for confirmation and getting things ready for transfer..

Also, here’s some more info I found today -

Some of us have been babbling in discord. Basically we are moving to Thrane and the plan is to move days after the servers open, but giving it enough time to see if anyone is screaming on the forums “AHHHHHHH I lost all my stuff” before committing. If anything horrible is happening then we wait. I’m not sure what prepare means. The only prepare I see necessary, as a one server only kind of guy, is empty mailboxes, don’t do auctions, claim all your Monster Manual rewards. If you want to try to get fancy you can create an initial character on other servers if you have bought a lot of things that give you “first char on server” BTA freebies. I might do that after the initial dust settles. I like my WPM 5000 Sent XP.

TYVM!!! I’ll be watching to see when we start moving to Thrane…
Plz continue to post updates as they become available, thanks!

Thanks Spatz for the update. They’re not leaving a big window for people who have taken a break. I know they’re keen to shut the 32 bit servers, but I can see some angst heading their way.

What happens to my Favor?

You can earn first-time-per-server DDO Points through Favor on these new 64-bit worlds, and you can earn them on Cormyr if you have not already earned them. There is a specific issue related to access to Favor-granted rewards following transfer, however. Access to races, classes, and enhancement trees does not persist following transfer if that access was solely granted through Favor.

This means for example that if you only have access to Favored Soul by acquiring 2500 total favor, you will not be able to log in with your Favored Soul character until another character on your account earns 2500 total Favor on your new game world. This impacts the ability to access Warforged, Artificer, Favored Soul, Feydark Illusionist, Inquisitive, Vistani Knife Fighter, Harper Agent, Falconry and Horizon Walker if access was granted through Favor (as opposed to an expansion or other purchase). It is not yet clear if this issue also impacts 32-point build characters. Please note that we will be offering a solution to this issue in the near future, and we encourage players to consider that a free solution will be available soon if they are thinking about purchasing access through the DDO Store.

We are taking a pause on plans to open the new worlds and offer transfers today. The worlds will be reopening like usual and we’ll work on something like a game build to address a few issues that came up during our pre-open checks.

Spatz–thanks for this thread.

Very soon we will be moving to the 64-bit server THRANE.
July 15th is the first day that DDO is offering transfers, and we are going to give it a day or two for them to work through any hiccups…and from what’s being said in the DDO forums, there are some issues.

The goal will be for me to move the guild FIRST before we move any of our characters over. I will announce when the guild is moved. I will also post this in several threads here.

So as things stand now, they have brought down the servers yet again to try for a release. The HUGE change is that you will not be able to pack/transfer until you empty your resurrection cache. Yes I know that sucks, I’ve been playing since beta and have 10 characters with resurrection cache, going to be hours of extra work. Please don’t complain to me, go on the main forums, everyone is melting down there. The one bone they threw us, is when the servers come back up, you’ve been gifted two extra character slots (which obviously only can help with non-BTC items). No bets on other bones. No bets on whether they will indeed have pack/transfer turned on when the server comes back on. No bets if turned on whether it actually works. Caveat Emptor.

We have not been able to get this done for this week, but we are working to add an additional sixty to your base Character Bank space for all characters, which is likely to happen in our next game update, possible for next week.

So far I have not heard of any substantial problems moving aside from significant wait times.

If you have some of those old weird Min Lvl items, I’ve heard one person complain that it changed, and another saying it changed and changed back. I had some ancient Guild augment items in Cache, and the augment slot disappeared upon removal. Which considering they killed that crafting system years ago isn’t upsetting. I also had some old shard/seal/scroll items, both raw and upgraded, that were BTC flip to BTA upon removal from Cache, so that was nice.

If you have any characters not in OTG belonging to defunct guilds, there is a strong recommendation to leave the guild before transferring. You can read the gory details on the main forums, but that is what it boils down to.

Packing the guild in a min (and in what is a bad omen to me, one of my least favorite songs came on while I was typing this)

OK Gibson is transferred, I unpacked him. Despite warnings to the the contrary the Guildship came over intact. I didn’t check every room, but amenities are there on the various lvls, and even the ones in the Hold that we have to refresh every 2 months are there. I am going to see if any of my personal chars made it yet next. Remember if you already unpacked once, unpack again now the guild exists.
