no problem are we still having session 0 this saturday, or we just going to push entirely to the 7th?
There were a few things i was looking at that were in Near Space, so i pushed them out of mind, now i have to dig back in to find what it was i was looking at
Near Space you say? I havenāt looked through that one yet. Letās see what I can find in there to give me more indecisionā¦because really I like both my character ideas so much I canāt decide which one to settle on.
@Findywen are you really playing the Raxillite race?
The Raxilite is on my mind - just working on what I want itās combat role to be. More combat, or more assistive. I am leaning toward combative, im thinking tiny knife with jolting surge. donāt under estimate the lil guy. But there is another combat option which would be using a fire arm of some sort with overheat. But I also want to look at it as more than just a murder hobo, see what kind of team friendly things i can make use of.
OMG I am totally going to steer the Dromada using his eye stalks for steering. (gently)
It turns out that there are level 1 solarian weapon crystals an AoN. Not only this, but it also turns out that the soulfire fusion is available at level 1 too! Both appear to be within my budget!! Can I use my starting money to buy these at character creation? Photon Shard with Soulfire Fusion is looking mighty good.
So at range I will use the powers of my black hole moteās solar flare to burn enemies to cinders and when they get too close I will use my supernova ability to kill them by spaghettification!
You can buy items with a level of up to (character level + 2). If you can afford it, you can buy it.
Easiest with items we already have a sourcebook for. But items are pretty easy to make in Fantasy Grounds even if we donāt have the sourcebook, unlike say themes, classes, races, etc, which are a lot of poopie XML work.
There exists a Starfinder Society Scenario called: Star Sugar Heartlove!!! that features the sugar-pop band sensation, Strawberry Machine Cake. That just might be one of the greatest sentences Iāve ever had the privilege of copying.
Change of plans? Azlanti out; Strawberry Machine Cake in?
P.S. Got the spaghettification supernova damage working after you left.
Gorax the Destroyer (yes Iām changing it from Destructor to Destroyer) doesnāt do sugar-pop.
@Randoā¦I have questions! I didnāt go right to bed last night and instead stayed up for more hours going over Vanguard stuff some more as well as feats and now I gots all sorts of ideas.
Question 1) regarding the Cleave feat, would cleave work with Entropic attack? Cleave reads āAs a standard action, you can make a single melee attack against a foe within reach.ā What does the wording standard action mean in this sense? Standard action meaning not a reaction or opportunity attack, but a regular old action that I could use to Cleave with Entropic Strike? Or does standard action in this sense mean just a plain old melee strike with a weapon or unarmed attack? Furthermore, if I am able to attack with Entropic Strike and cleave, can the second attack of the Cleave be an Entropic Strike?
Question 2) actually kind of a sub question to question one, but related to Cleave and Vanguard abilities. Vanguard has a feature called Aspects and each Aspect has four parts to it that you get at various levels. You get one main Aspect that you get all four parts of it and can later pick a second Aspect of which you only get the first two parts. So for the Aspects I am looking at Exergy as my primary Aspect and possibly Cascade as my secondary Aspect. So far the Aspects the second part is the Embodiment which letās you gain an Entropy point once per combat if the specific conditions are met. So the Embodiments for Exergy and Cascade read as such
Exergy Embodiment: āOnce per combat, when you make two or more attacks in the same turn, you can gain 1 Entropy Point without taking any additional actionā
Will this proc if I Cleave? Iām assuming it would
Cascade Embodiment: ā: Once per combat, when you hit multiple creatures in a single round with an attack or attacks (or effects that require an attack roll), you can gain 1 Entropy Point without taking any additional action.ā
Would this proc with Cleave? Iām assuming it would.
Question 3) nothing to do with the previous questions, This is regarding 4 arms and weapons and reach. So with 4 arms, I am going to have some kind of gauntlets or battle gloves on usually, Iāll probably be starting with those Cestus Battle Gloves. Can I wear the Battlegloves/Gauntlets on my secondary arms that also acta as legs. Iām gonna assume I can because bsed on this picture, those sure look like some hefty ass gauntlet thingees on the secondary arm-legs.
I will refer to my tow different stances as Posture up and Posture Down. Up in 2 legs/4 arms stance with the 10 feet range and I will be in this stance pretty much during all of any combat. Posture down will be 4 legs/2 arms configuration for extra movement and I will be in this stance for most of non-combat stuff. I will also start combat in this stance for maximum movement to get in melee range as quick as possible and then go into Posture Up for the rest of combat. This will let me make attacks with the gauntlets on the secondary arm-legs if I choose to as well as use one of my main hands to deliver naked Entropic Strikes and also wield something like oh say a Taclash and other whip type weapons to stun and trip enemies ( I get the Improved Combat feat Trip as a bonus feat at first level with my Vanguard Aspect).
@Rando again, so the thing we briefly discussed concerning Entropy points and keeping track of them. I had one idea so far, set them up as Focus points on the Action tab so that I have the ability to edit them and I can add and subtract them as the number changes. I have none when Iām out of combat. I start combat with one. Also, not sure how you want to do this, but my armor class varies in relation to my Entropy points. I have a +1 to my ACās whenever I have at least one Entropy point. I guess you could put a +1 AC effect on me whenever I have at least one Entropy point and remove it whenever I have none, or maybe you can set me up some kind of buff in the Actions tab that I can ācastā so to speak whenever I have at least one Entropy point and that I can remove at will when I have none.
@Findywen We could have done sort of a reverse Rocket Raccoon/Groot thing if you had gone with Raxilite and picked up the Scurry feat, you could literally stand under me while shooting and such.
@Rando found a post here that details a pretty good setup for Vanguard Entropic Strike and Entropy Points, but you already nailed creating the Entropic Strike.
Unlike say 3.X or Pathfinder1, here Cleave is itās own action. So instead of taking a ānormalā standard action to āAttackā you say I am using Cleave. I guess they did this so you canāt cleave off of a charge or a full-attack or other things like that. And yes it works with Entropic Strike.
Question 4) How does adjacent work with reach? Is an enemy or ally considered adjacent to me if it is within my reach or does it have to be within 5 feet?
Question 5) Given my character size of large, if Iām in between players and enemies in such a manner as to provide cover, am I still considered just soft cover?
Well thereās no way around it, or rather me I should say; Iām gonna be in the way sometimes. Being large size there will probably be times where I am between the enemy(ies) and the rest of the party and I am gonna be making it harder to hit the baddie at range. Hopefully not too often. My main tactic with this character is to just charge the enemies and/or get as close to them as quick as possible. Weāll have to talk strategy/tactics to deal with this. I looked through all the feats and I didnāt see any feats that could help get around this.
