I don’t forsee any problems in getting it up and running before tonight.
I’m not sure I will make it tonight. I’m still upstate and I am heading back tonight, but I might not make it back until late. If I get back in time to get on I will join in when I can. Sorry all, it’s just been another shit week for me.
Well that was pretty fun tonight, but with all of us stuck in that elevator together, I think @Rando missed the perfect opportunity to play the Girl from Ipanema:
Wow… we had a 3-week gap there with no posts. Does that reflect well or poorly upon the campaign/adventure?
I think that reflects well upon the adventure. If there were no comments because we all stopped playing, then that might reflect poorly upon the campaign/adventure, but we all seem to be having fun and enjoying the campaign and taking care of discussions and whatnot within the campaign sessions themselves.
Compared to the Thursday Pathfinder campaign where there is a lot more constant thread posting, we tend to get through the encounters in Starfinder a bit better than the PF2e game, even the space encounters. Also I think we have a bit better handle on our Starfinder characters as we make far less changes to the SF characters.
In short, I think it bodes well for the Starfinder campaign.
Mainly as a reminder to myself, the solution to the player starship not being able to be moved by the players is to turn on “Party Movement and Vision” in the game options (along with the facing indicator) when we move to ship combat.
So y’all have dinged level 6. I’ll have the server up early next Saturday for you all to do character manipulations.
Hey Folks, So I think I’m mostly caught up with the thread so far… sounds like I missed some fun with the prison break
As we look to dinging 6, are there any gaps the party is concerned about that a Cedona (Mystic) can help mitigate for ya’ll?
@Quixote bonuses to hit? lol
@Rando I found there is an item in starfinder that lets you “redo” a level of advancement. Was curious if such a thing existed in your campaign. I given my record I was considering changing a feat on Vash, drop Craven Ploy ( which i rarely get to make use of), and take Weapon Focus (Melee). This would give me a +1 to hit and in another level or two +2 to hit. I like Vash, but his productivity due to dice rolls has been lacking, I went so far as to considering remaking him as a soldier just for the better to hit rolls but decided that was too much, and removed some of his flavor ( sour apple if you didnt know).
On a different note, I have the ship upgrades ready, though i suspect it may hit tier 7 before we are in port again for the chance to make those upgrades, maybe Vash should re-install the AI and give it a robotic arm so it can upgrade itself.
Yeah I was reading about those. I’m (maybe too?) easy in regards to character changes. Y’all should play what you want and make changes accordingly. Starfinder characters are already cash-strapped without having to buy items like that respec token. I think we’re fine with making whatever changes y’all want to make until the end of this adventure/adventure-path In the future we’ll worry about respec tokens and retraining and stuff.
I’m playing what I like, but the designers of these modules almost seem like they don’t like large player races. I love my big ass Dragonkin Vanguard, although I do feel like I should have played him as a straight Soldier instead of a Vanguard.
I realized in hindsight that I should’ve made my character as an Envoy instead because it would’ve made her backstory make more sense as a Dragonblood theme. But I can’t complain too badly about my Solarian damage.
I wonder if Fly Free or Die has space dragons.
The mystery planet/Kingmaker in space AP also sounds interesting.
Not only racist, but also specieist.

Squee!
I was looking over the Vanguard class for shits and giggles last night making sure I had stuff right and trying to commit to memory all the ways a Vanguard an gain Entropy Points in combat that almost never happen. Looking at how the Entropic Strike damage scales and the various damage bonuses it gets across the levels I realized that at lvl 10, my BONUS to damage with the Entropic Strike will be higher than the actual max amount of damage from the dice rolls. I think it will end up doing 3d6+20 damage at lvl 10…suck on that Lt. Sharu!
Also, here’s a list of all the different ways I can gain Entropy Points so y’all can see the amount of things I could be getting Entropy Points for in combat, but hardly ever happen or come up.
Yeah I’m trying to remember all that in fights so I don’t miss gaining any Entropy Points because they really matter for the Vanguard to get the most out of their stuff or even be able to do some things. Overall I think this class is ok, but I feel it has some balance issues. It pretty much requires the player to tank and you have to take big damage to get the most out of it. Indeed, you might hear me often lamenting getting hit and not taking big damage or insulting the enemy because I considered their attack to be “weak” (it’s weak if it’s not doing at least twice my level in damage ). There are two ways to build up Entropy Points quick with this class really and it’s either constantly taking big damage and/or getting critted, or constantly using move actions and Resolve Points to gain a point, but only when I have none. So really the only way to actually amass Entropy points beyond the first is to take big damage and or get crit hit a lot. The Vanguard class comes off as kind of a tank monk to me albeit with more options to protect the group and mitigate damage for other characters or the party as a whole.
Something to keep in mind for y’all, most of my protective/damage mitigating abilities require you to be adjacent to me. That works out well for Vash who is often using me as cover , but not so much for the rest of you. I’m still not sure if allies are adjacent to me if they are within my reach or still have to be within 5 feet of me.
Still think I probably should have played Zabraxas as a Soldier, I’m gonna miss out on the chance to use big POW POW weapons as I can pretty much disregard all weapons now as the Vanguard in favor of my Entropic Strike. Oh well I guess that means I can save more credits for the armor I’ll never be able to find to buy
Kinda necroing this here but awhile ago I mentioned running the StarfinderDead Suns AP and I haven’t even mentioned it in awhile. I am still planning on doing this eventually while we’re still all alive hehe. I’m firstly trying to find a Dead Suns game to play because I want to play it before I run it…or at the very least play each module before I run it. Also I’m trying to get more Starfinder knowledge and experience under my belt playing Rando’s campaign.
I’ll let y’all know if I manage to find a Dead Suns game to get in on just so you have some tease that I am closer to running it. I might actually take the AP we’re playing now once we’re done with it and start running it for some friends to get some Starfinder GM experience before tackling the whole Dead Sun campaign, because I will run the whole Dead Sun campaign, not just one, two or a few parts of it. Everyone in this game has first dibs on playing in my Dead Suns campaign.
And yes @Rando, I’ll let you play one of those irritatingly cutesy Raxilites although I can’t guarantee you won’t get mistaken for a space turnip or space radish and get eaten here and there. Also, if you don’t have some kind of Alvin & The Chipmunks-esque voice for the character I might change my mind because I will feel you are just not putting your all into selling me on the character
Well if you you weren’t so damn big, you could charge attack practically every other round to get entropy points. And what is this about upgrading armor? How do you expect to be taking dmg if you keep trying to get new armor?
Oh weee little space goblin, how different the world must seem from down there.
Enemy placement in this AP rarely would give me chance to charge large or medium. Maybe if I was small…like you. Besides, if I was charging all over the place, who would you have to hide under?
I needs me some better armor. I rarely take enough damage to proc an Entropy Point so I would rather get hit less, I’ll just rely on getting critted to get two Entropy Points.
