Unfortunately I think yes. I’ll hang out till 8:30, if @quixote isn’t there then we can all resume our NWN porn instead. Yay!
As a character that isn’t even on his list of possible plans.
As a player, that would probably not be a good idea in that you want to take one of the two people that has training in longarms out of the fight when you need to reach ranged targets that can move in 3 directions.
At this point, just stop the truck as fast as you can. Just warn everyone so they can grab on. The whole point of running was to keep in front of the other truck load of hobgoblins. While we try to work out how to get ourselces out of this lovely mess. Two of the resistance helicopters went after it. We have no idea were we are heading or how close the armory was before your impulses put us on the hobgoblins bad side. If the second truck catches up, fine we have more targets but then we have all three of the resistance helicopters in the same area offering support. Of course they might start shooting at us soon after the hobbies are down. we will have to survive the hobbies long enough to see if we can survive being put in the middle. Of course this was our own doing rather than EJ or the weapons seller.

ok, sorry for the last minute cancel on Sunday, as you might have seen on my other response, fall sports has kicked off and I’m a football official. Critical failure role will games running late and a 90 minute weather delay meant that I should have been done by 5:00 ended up walking off the field at 7:30 and an hour ride home. Earlier start and clear skies for this week, so I’m not expecting an issue this weekend. looking forward to rejoining the fray.
I do like the “stop the truck” and focus on the Hobbies first plan… I’ll probably try to distract them with my hand held laser pointer thingie… (squeak) Also, I believe I have long arms prof with my Exocortex… if there’s a rifle kicking around let me know.
Ummm, there should be a longarm in the cab with you from the hobgoblin you shot. Then again, I can’t remember what weapons they were using.
If the resistance fighters see us shooting the hobbos then after the fight is over with the hobbos then hopefully the resistance fighters will at least be willing to talk.
I wouldn’t really count on that.
I mean if I was running a resistance, I would have someone who speaks hobgoblin monitoring their communications especially with an agent going in to make contact. And there is the chance that they said over that communication channel that the space truckers said the resistance planned to attack the convoy on the way to the armory, Because like you know we did.
I would be pretty sure they also heard the announcement over the radio from the cab as well.
So don’t count on them being friendly just because we shot a few hobbies.
In this particular fight, the module writers are out to screw us. But we did an excellent job of just upping the screwing level by aggroing both sides of the scenario.
So I end with this famous quote:
For those about to die, I salute myself!!!
Mith
I’m still gonna count on it. If the resistance see us shooting hobgoblins that might give us some goodwill towards the resistance, especially if we aren’t shooting them after the hobbos are done with. On the off chance that they actually did monitor all those communications and aren’t amenable towards us then Captain MVT will try and bullshit his way through it by saying that he wasn’t about to openly or secretively make any deals with the resistance in the middle of the hobgoblin camp back when they first approached us.
To end with a lesser known quote (bonus points if you did your movie/TV show homework for this campaign and can tell which related source this quote came from):
“…Hell with this, I’m gonna live!”
I am a leaf on the wind… watch how I soar!..
“I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I–” DEAD
It turns out I won’t be able to make it Sunday night due to a family visit and some confusion about my work calendar. Apologies to my fellow players. I’m fine if somebody else wants to take over Alydia for Sunday’s session.
Well…
I’ll leave it up to the rest of y’all whether we want to play on Sunday. We’ve skipped two weeks in a row now because of missing folks and I wanted everyone there for the big chase sequence. It’s not super important but it would be nice.
This isn’t the pivotal point of the film or even the climax, but it’s the major special effects-driven set-piece action sequence where we’ve blown a good chunk of the budget.
Up to y’all.
Man I want to play, but I don’t want to play this pivotal part missing anyone as well.
It may not be the pivotal point in the film, but it is a pivotal point in the film. It is pivotal to the survival of the group as well as what the future holds, because we can’t keep on like this working for EJ Corp.
Well my take on it is if we need to wait another week, then we should. Its a extended Holiday weekend in the US, so there might be someone other than Ocelot who might not make it. At this point, I would say go ahead and pass on this week ( I know you have some NWN porn to get back to Rando). But set next weekend (although that is the open Beta for New World and how many of us are jumping into that for the weekend I have no idea). or the following one as We are playing rain or shine or missing players.
Mith
Well…
I have no plans on doing the open beta. Not gonna risk the (EVGA) 3090 again until I get absolute confirmation that New World isn’t bricking them.
How’s about we plan for next weekend and play it by ear.
So Sun Sept 12, the Battle of Winterpeak Pass commences/resumes/finishes! With a full party… hopefully.
Nod understandable. At worst I thought you might just put your lower card back in for it.
Me I’m going to jump in on it but not for more than a day. I want to see what if anything has changed with the initial quests. Since I have an idea on how to help the guild get a boost on being able to buy ownership on a region a little faster maybe.
Mith
Thanks y’all. Sorry for yet another absence. After this, my schedule should remain open until American Thanksgiving.
This year the company I work for gave us an extra day off for Labor Day and I thought that day was supposed to be on Friday but it turned out to be on Tuesday instead so we had to adjust our plans.
No worries. Gives @Rando some extra time to make those maps extra spiffy
Hey y’all,
It turns out that once again, I’m unable to play tonight and because of my computer situation, I’m going to be unable to play until mid October (between 13 and 20).
For anyone who might recall, Fantasy Grounds Unity’s latest versions are no longer compatible with my aging Mac. I thought I would be able to rectify the situation by fixing my old (but slightly newer) PC. I spent earlier this week trying to isolate the problem with it, and I’m pretty sure the motherboard including Ethernet and USB-3 ports are hosed.
So I thought I could fix the situation by buying a replacement motherboard which is what I did for $75 but it turns out that the LGA 1151 socket that I thought would be sufficient for my Core i7 is actually designed for Coffeelake chips and it turns out that mine is only a Skylake. sigh
This has taught me that 1) I have no business trying to build and repair my own gaming PCs and 2) I should’ve gone ahead and pulled the trigger on a new iMac back in the spring when they were first announced.
I’ve now ordered a brand new iMac so I can hopefully rejoin again in October. The delivery is estimated to be between October 13-20, which is super slow and frustrating. I guess not even Tim Cook has the power to solve the global chip shortage.
Anyway, if you’re still reading this, thank you for taking time to read my long and drawn out explanation. I’m really sorry about this. I would definitely like to rejoin the campaign in October but I realize this throws a wrench in things so if you all feel like you need to continue with somebody else I completely understand.
Well the party successfully completed the Winterpeak Run!
-
it was retconned that everyone else in the party was surprised as to what went down into in the cab of the (1st) truck, and the fight between Alydia and Private Glaka resulted in them both falling out the passenger side door and down the mountain!
-
Ran Korfar quickly sprung into action and took over driving duties
-
apparently the resistance who were unbeknownst to the party monitoring hobgobbo comms realized the hobgobbos were after the party/shipment and came swooping into the rescue to counter the hobgob enercopter attack!
-
most of the resistance copters went back to engage the 2nd truck, but did leave a copter up near the 1st truck/party to provide fire support
-
two of the hobgob enercopters, or hobcopters if you will, lowered shock troopers onto the back of the truck; Private Shenk was also still onboard, having “jumped” off the back of the truck at low health, but he pulled a fast one and was only hanging down off the back!
-
the party fought the shock troopers and the lone hobcopter that had a gunner riding shotgun for an exciting three rounds; there were lots of red hp bars on the combat tracker
-
in a surprising turn of events, Alydia had also managed to not fall off the cliff and was hanging on the side of the truck! Ran Korfar and her quickly did the old swap driver in mid action scene driving maneuver and pulled it off! This let Ran Korfar jump back out onto the bed of the truck to help out the rest of the beleaguered party where he promptly get critted and nearly one-shot (he was corroded from ongoing acid damage as a result though)!
-
all the weapons fire from all of the parties resulted in an avalanche of snow and rocks that came bounding down the cliff and onto the truck; Stompey, Jack Storm, and one hobgoblin were staggered as a result, but everyone else managed to shake it off with minimal effect!
-
Ran Kofar dropped from the ongoing acid damage and was dying; the party (with the help of their resistance enercopter fire support) dropped the hobgoblin sniper and two of the shocktroopers before a tunnel through the mountain quickly came into view ahead! Alydia managed to swerve the truck through no problem, but the two remaining enercopter (hobgob and resistance) weren’t so lucky and both exploded in goodness gracious great balls of fire as the slammed into the mountain/tunnel mouth; similary the 2nd truck also didn’t make it and went careening off the side of the mountain!
-
the fire-fight with the last two hobgob shocktrooper holdouts continued on the bed of the truck as everyone ducked between crates and quickly popped out of cover to take their shots, except Jack Storm (Union Busted) V2 who strode out into the open like a juggernaut and promptly drew all the fire to himself so that his red hitpoint comrades might live!
-
Alydia spotted a resistance member in the tunnel ahead who waved and pointed off to the right; upon leaving the tunnel Alydia took the first right side road which apparently was leading towards a (temporary) resistance camp; the resistance swarmed the last two hobgobs and the party was saved!
-
Ahyna, the human leader of this resistance cell wondered why exactly the party was here but was happy enough to get one shipment of guns/grenades; she was under the impression that the party had sided with the Authority because that is what Vog had radioed ahead; she expressed sadness over Vog’s death and didn’t quite believe Maelchi’s explanation of events, but the recently returned to upright Ran was able to smooth things over
-
suddenly the familiar elegant lines of the BD514 flew into the camp and with all the grace of a pregnant whale flared into a landing; aboard was Vog’s twin brother Beldar Minebrewer who had stolen the ship from Camp 1120 and upon learning of his brother’s death wailed, gnashed his teeth, beat his breast and pulled at his beard!
-
for the one remaining truck of guns (50% of total), Ahnya payed 50%; so the party made 25% of the expected return on the gun sale! Since y’all did such a good job she through in two boxes of guns/grenades for your own use!
Yay!
