Dune: Awakening Open World Survival MMO

You are correct. If 40 are online for one seitch you get placed in a queue. I highly doubt that will ever be a problem. I’ve never been put in a queue. I think guilds are limited to 32, but nothing stopping anyone from have several guilds. Big guilds are going to want to control the Landsrads, which is fine with me as long we are same faction, but I think they are putting in some scheme to offset that tactic. The chief game lead was saying something about it in the last livestream they did. I’d have to go back and listen to that again. I think he also said the landsrad is server wide.

I’m thinking about this now. If someone had a guild 1k strong active members and in game only 32 per guild on a seitch that will allow 40 people active at a time, that is going to be an insane problem if that’s true. lol. That’s 31 seitches. And a limit of 500 per deep desert. They could potentially lock down an entire world. This might actually be amusing.

That’s 100% going to happen. And we don’t want to be anywhere near that.

I say we join up with our friends in the GOON Squad

I have played many new releases with OTG through the years and was an officer at launch in several including Age of Conan and ESO. Dune Awakening has me stumped on how launch and guilding and meeting up and all that works.

My bar has lowered…please please nothing like Once Human…

Yeah. The information we have makes things more confusing, not less. And the fact that there are limitations to all sorts of “instances” doesn’t make things much better.

Then add to that it’s basically full on PvP in the mid to end-game, and it’s starting to fit less and less with the general OTG demographic, even though we’re all excited about a lot of things we’re seeing.

From what I have gathered - Guilds → We would all want to be on the same ‘Seitch’ server and the limit is 34 players per guild I believe. But if some are on other seitches (withing the same wolrd server) they can ‘visit’ your seitch, and they can play together in Deep Desert. Main servers have one Deep Desert for multiple seitches. There is a guild chat channel. Much/Most of ‘Hagga Basin’ is solo survival type exploration and quests, but there are areas that will be ‘fun’ to do in groups, and easier to do in groups. There are limited pvp areas in Hagga with materials we may need, so grouping for those may be needed if the pvp is hot (may not be sweaty in Hagga). Coordinating refining bases that guilds share may be part of the experience. One person may build a base for refining X material in a certain zone, then others can use that base for that material. Then there is the Landstradd activities of tasks that guilds can do together collecting and crafting to gain rights and privileges for the faction. And just the general fun of having like minded folks to chat with while experiencing the game.
The deep desert ----> There is a non pvp zone and then the massive desert pvp zone. It wipes clean every week (coreolis storm). A guild may build a safe main base in the non pvp zone for refining materials and such, then use it as a launching point to head and and farm the materials (spice and the final tier ores, etc.) Guilds may build bases in the pvp zones also, but they would be vulnerable to destruction by others at times. The base would get build, broken down, and rebuilt each week. Guilds may delegate various roles in that process? My sense is that though it is pvp, it is also huge and even a solo pve’er may be able to cat and mouse their way around farming while avoiding the sweaty pvp folks. And running in a small guild group seems like it may be ‘safer’. But who knows how sweaty the the whole deep desert is gonna be. My bet is that the first few weeks or months will be rough, but once the dust settles and the fortnite generation moves on, DD could be a lot of fun.

Despite my dislike of PvP, I am still going to attempt to participate in the DD PvP even if I suck at it. And also, it would be swell if Funcom decided to send me an invite for the beta invite for this weekend’s event anytime now instead of sending me another message telling to me to pre-order because excuse me Funcom, I ALREADY DID!

One interesting facet it seems from what i gather - The ‘landstradd’ determines the consequences of getting killed in PVP. And the landstradd is weighted heavily in favor of pve - Hagga basin activities. So the pve folks should have control. And then they can set the pvp consequences to something like you lose the materials you have gathered, but you keep all armor and weapons etc. that you have. I suspect even the pvp folks would prefer that. Of course, we have ornithopters we can lose (get destroyed) in pvp. But I gather that by end game you have plenty of mats to make multiple Thopters for backups painlessly. I did ok in ESO and New World PVP, but this 3rd person shooter type pvp probably not so much.

my PVP goal is to be a on a recon team that hides and plants thumpers when it gets real and call the worms so everyone gets eaten (except guildies though, I would warn you all)!

My PvP goal is to not suck at the very least and probably be the guildie that gets eaten when @Elidien summons a worm

Big AMA today - private servers are a go so I assume like Conan. Also a big article about how servers and all that works in terms of guilds and caps. Good read.

Has everyone requested a key for the weekend? As much as I want to play with you guys I’m willing to give up a key. I also requested a discord Chan.

Sigh…no pre-load for the beta this weekend. Not that I really expected a pre-load, but I was sure hoping for it.

Yea! Thank you Splutty for getting us a dune Chan on discord.

I’m basically begging someone to take my key. Let me put it this way. Those lucky people, unlike @Indigo_Prophet , that have been in the beta for a long time would be just fine with giving up a key for the weekend.

Loading is open now on Steam for the beta weekend.
