World of Warcraft Patch 1.3, Ruins of the Dire Maul, was the games second major update, going live on the 7th of March 2005 - 3 months after Mysteries of Mauradon. Like 1.2, it contained a lot, bringing with it Azeroth’s first world bosses, Azuregos and Lord Kazzak, and the game-changing Dire Maul.

PvP was always a foundational aspect of World of Warcraft but it wasn’t until five months in that a substantive reward and progression system was added. Patch 1.4, The call to War, truly was an apt name as thousands of players were about to pour thousands of hours into the original pvp rank system.

Pretty interesting, this brought back many memories of the game in its early stages. All of the idiosyncrasies in the mechanics of the game back then is one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much.

Patch 1.2 video should be out next Friday. Bellular said he’s doing the whole thing patch by patch. This is going to be awesome! I love retrospective type videos.

This is real good stuff!

There should be more soon™. They said in a patreon video that they got way behind due to blizzcon, 8.3 being on PTR a week before expected, some sort of wierd youtube bug and breaking in a new editor.

CUT CONTENT: Blizzard’s ORIGINAL Vanilla WoW Plan: Classes, Systems, Level Cap & MORE

Vanilla was already full of content for players to enjoy. However, Blizzard back then were even more ambitious. New classes, zones, systems, and battlegrounds were left by the wayside during development. We got most of the content eventually, but there are some major things we’re still waiting on to this day!

This is the last video on Vanila. Next Burning Crusade starts!

Here is where I’m going to post The Burning Crusade episodes. It shouldn’t be too much longer.
