Why should people use this category? What is it for?
With Oculus , and other VR headsets becoming within financial reach. More people are getting into VR games PC/Xbox/PS and quest

How exactly is this different than the other categories we already have?
I have not found any categories dedicated to VR gaming

What should topics in this category generally contain?
New Games, Help and How to videos. Also reviews of games, New and upcoming, by the guild members

Do we need this category? Can we merge with another category, or subcategory?
I do not know if this can be merged with any other category or subcategory. There is a virtual tabletop category but I don’t think it is the same or you could make Virtual tabletop as a subcategory under a VR category

I am of the opinion that Virtual tabletop denotes people playing remotely via the internet instead of in person sitting at a table.
Whereas VR denotes using hardware to simulate another Virtual Reality.

But, I participate in neither so I would not be opposed to merging.
