Star Wrath PC Game from Gaijin

Star Wrath PC Game

There is no NDA for this CBT version of Star Wrath. Sort of like Early Access, but not called that.

I have been enjoying a new Gaijin game called Star Wrath. It is like Crossout for the build thing from random parts aspect, and Star Conflict for the space combat and ship styles. Think it is developed by Targem with Gaijin. It is targeted to be a PVPvE Extraction Space Combat game with looting/fighting for resources. The game is in a Closed Beta stage with a functional base sand box type game running. You can buy in to try it, or register for the CBT and wait for an invite via waves which they had two so far. I signed and forgot, or due to playing/buy Crossout packs got an invite the first week.

Fair warning players most usually will shoot on sight, or wait for you to distracted by looting, or the the AI ships that will challenge most players. I am not a big fan of Extraction type games, but this one is mostly like Crossout PVP. You will lose your loot on death, and your equipped modules on death. Early game so not sure how monetized this may be, but the “packs” current have items that you can lose quickly. I gained some free items when a player flew past me into an floating rock near by. I have also lost items cause I did not remove them before starting a match. Devs are listening on the private forum they use, so things might get more balanced in respect to PVP and PvE. I have gotten lucky a few times and extracted with no players seen.

There is a basic set of Starter Missions that get you some items and ship designs. There is a free Battle Pass for testing that also gives items/ships as you do random big and small missions. I ended up at max Level in about a week, but Level mean nothing currently. Progression is a mixed bag since they are build many systems as they go. Some stuff is looted in matches only like crafting for some blocks/modules/consumables. Ammo for weapons needs to be crafted, and was my biggest loss the first few days. Players will kill you just for simple things, and a few just cause they can.

So see if you may want to try this out. Not for everyone, and it is lacking any Clan, Coms (not even in game chat), and currently all three maps are very deadly even though they are rated low/med/hard challenge based. I have two access codes I can offer up. Not fully sure how Guild Leadership may want that part handled so for now I will hold off on those. There is still 45 days if the Free Battle Pass is a hint to the current CBT period. Nothing solid has been said about server wipes, or if the "Founder Packs” items and/or unlocked content of the CBT will persist to the full game. Still I am loving the build your own ships from part blocks, and test them in a sim area. There is a Destroyer, and two escort Corvettes you can fight that is fun by it self. The 3 maps are okay also if players play nice.

Going to the post the two registration codes I have before Gaijin decides they are unused and void. Think it just gives access to the game and CBT Forum, but it might have some extra stuff.

#1 Registration code 1TW1J-N5F26-ZK4G8-LZ5D1-9MJXG-T1UQE

#2 Registration code JRS5H-ERNZL-ERLRU-U4488-LCA5K-TGC7G

Hope whom ever uses them enjoys the CBT version as much as I have been. A few tips I will give that can help out in the early part of the game.

Ship blocks are never destroyed. So as you gain resources a decent investment is upgrading your ship cabin block. This in turn improves all the other ship blocks. Also you do not need multiple blocks for each ship blueprint. I made the mistake of building lost of parts when all I needed was like 4 or 6 maximum. Only the ship currently being deployed needs active ship blocks.

Modules are lost with your cargo hold on death. You might extract in your escape pod with items, but most players tend to kill pods as well. So do not take modules if you do not have the need. Ship blocks have generic modules that do okay, and higher tier/level ship blocks tend to be generally better. I learned to not risk as much loss when doing certain missions. If your targeting NPC and/or players for kill missions it can be better to not take modules. If you have not gauged the difficulty of a map this can be a good idea as well. It does make things harder, but losing items and your cargo hold tends to be worse. The big loss currently is ammo. I wasted a decent bit of resources on ammo since you take several hundred with you, but loot minimal amounts in return.

Missions and the Free Battle Pass Test can get you lots of the needed resources. A few of the ships rewarded come with all the parts up front. The Devs have improved the rewards more since I started so might be easier as well. Do try building you own design of ship. The system is not overly polished, but it can be fun and rewarding.

Well the PVP has claimed down some from the early weeks. I joined the Moon Map expecting to be attacked by a maxed out player as usual. Moon is listed as low threat which is funny due to high PVP and NPCs both taking out lower level players in one or few shots. Instead some players were helping others which is bit hard with lack of in game communication currently. Even more odd was going to a high rated map and players were all just fighting the large NPC patrol that wanders the map. I got some missions finished, or part way done that have been in my list for week or more. Was a better experience then the first week of extreme hostile acts. Might be as others that were in a previous CBT claimed that more hostile players stop playing from lack of reward or high loss when mission/battlepass are finished. I just like that being able to experience more of the content to help comment on what might improve some aspects.

So if you get to try this CBT out hopefully it may be a bit more friendly for a short while.
