Wouldn’t it be really cool if we had a discord channel to watch movies in a structured way?
We already have a live stream channel but what im thinking is different. We could have a monthly post in a text channel offering a few movies and members could vote using the 1,2,3,4,5… emojies. We could make it always the same day, for example the first wednesday of every month. It also does not have to be movies. Could be humour show for example. Once the movie is chosen, we would gather in a voice chat and everyone would have the movie movie setup on their computer. The “leader” would then countdown so everyone start the movie at the same time-ish. So that everyone follows the correct timestamp, we have 2 options; Either stream the time from a stopwatch service like google , or use the epoch intergration of discord, though that would include only the minutes not the second. ex: 17 minutes ago after 17minutes and 13seconds that the movie started.

If accepted, we should have only a handful of willing members or staff able to make said offering posts to avoid spam and only have 1 post a month (unless we get tremendous participation and we require more movie nights). I would be glad the be the first to take care of that business.
Im also thinking we could have a text channel where any members can post a movie and the most green checkmarked voted movie gets the floor or the 4-5 most checkmarked movie are added to the monthly list. I dont know if you can have a slow mode with a timer of 3weeks/1month in between messages but that would be great so members can only post 1 movie a month.
I believe such channel could be housed in the “Private lobby” section on the discord. For this project, we would need 2 text channels (one for the monthly post and one for member proposals) and 1 voice channel where we would gather to watch. For the permissions, only the monthly post text channel should restrict member writing in it for the reasons mentioned earlier and only the few members/staff (dont need more than 2-5) could write in it.
EDIT: For legal purposes, changed the concept of live stream to everyone sync’d on their computer.
