This is kind of a Public Service Announcement since I assume that the situation exists for many guild members that they keep updated via the guild forums. However, a lot of message activity actually happens on/in the guild Discord channels. Maybe I’m blind but I didn’t see a PoE2 channel – just one for in-game guild invites.
So Path of Exile 2 Early Access launched on 12/6/24 – 5 days ago now. I really liked Path of Exile 1 – free to play and very Diablo-esqe. PoE2 supposedly won’t officially launch until about 6 months from now while the developers make tweaks. It will also be free to play but for now they are allowing Early Access play for supporters who buy a supporter pack – usually giving you varying degrees of coinage to spend in the microtransaction shop. I believe its pretty fair. $30 is the cheapest pack. If you spent a certain amount of money on microtransactions in PoE1 then that will get you into Early Access too. Anything you bought in PoE1 is mirrored in your PoE2, which is cool, so my multitude of stash tabs transferred over. You can play 6 of the 12 classes at this time.
There are multiple patches daily and the devs seem to really be working on the game. Its different from PoE1 but alike with some changes to things, like what I suppose the devs think are improvements. There are also some (3) Twitch tv drops that you can get for watching a total of 3 hours of PoE2 live streams, which are interesting if you’re playing the game BUT ONLY UNTIL 12/14 at 0000. I started to watch one and went to bed halfway to 3 hours with the stream on, which got me the 2 cosmetic items when I woke up later. The 3rd is gained via Twitch subscription to streamers and cost $10. It was an in-game pet which isn’t important to me.
I like the game and it has been fun. Some players complain its too challenging. I don’t think so but I do google a lot of different class builds instead of trying to deep-thought things out. I’m only at level 15 (Mercenary class) and am taking things slow because the game is currently being tweaked constantly. Anything too overpowered gets normalized and re-specializing your skill tree points is too expensive to do frequently. All your characters share the same bank stash so I’ve been putting away some choice starter items for some other classes when/if I’m ready to spend time trying some others. Supposedly there will not be a character wipe of Early Access characters when its over. Otherwise, I don’t think I’d waste the time playing.
I have heard some other players saying that the Witch class is fun to play. Anyone have feedback on other fun classes or neat things in PoE2?
