Newbie in an old game

Hey I know this game’s been out for forever - but I’m only just now playing it for the first time, and would love to find someone else, equally new to play with.

There’s loads of guilds I’ve found looking around inside the game that are active, but for the most part they seem to consist of folks that have been playing for ages, and they all have max-lvl chars that they like to go run around and do max-level activities (I’m not being judgey, they were all VERY nice folks!). but the new wonders of the game to me are just old hat to them.

It’s really a wonderful thing that so many are still playing the game, but I would really, really like to discover the game together with someone who’s also new, also discovering new things with me.

I don’t suppose such an anomalous person exists, lol. But I figure if I throw enough bottles out into the sea, one of the might find it’s target! lol

Greetings to you all! Here’s hoping you’re having a lovely day

Heya! We’ve definitely got a few newer folks, but also a bunch who have been kicking around since day one. These days, everyone’s kind of off doing their own thing for the most part, so it may be the same situation you’ve run into elsewhere.
That said, you’re definitely welcome to hang - and OTG has chapters in most major games, so membership carries over if you want it to. The first step would be officially joining here on the forums - all that info a can be found here: Before You Apply… Things to Know

Thank you!

I was looking at the Guild Wars 2 portion of the forum and it didn’t really look all that recently used… so wasn’t too sure you had any folks currently playing…

There may be more in the members-only areas of the forum, as well as the members areas of Discord.

GW2 is still my main game. That being said, us OTG guildies are, like Horsie said, usually off doing different things in-game (lots to do and a lotta end-game is out farming events for legendary crafting materials, lol).

Luckily the game allows you to be in up to 6 guilds at the same time, so join the OTG chapter for sure then look around for other casual/newbie-friendly guilds to assist. I’m currently in SAGE (an all-around, casual-type guild) and ViP (leans towards WvW but I see a lot of PVE’ers in there too as well as newcomers).

Finding brand-spanking new players at this point in the life of the game may be daunting but I know there’s a few. I frequently visit the livestreams on Twitch and look for new players there to help out.

One of the very few complaints I have of the game is not having some sort of dedicated guild finder system. But just take it slow and keep your eyes open. And ask away whenever you have questions.

Thank you Eyebeam! I will certainly look to join OTG in Guild Wars 2, I’m glad they let a person join multiple guilds… although in light of the game’s name it seems a bit strange, lol. I’m already in SIN since they seemed active and with a generous pool of members who I might try and find a gaming buddy in, but all the newbies seem so young and I have nothing in common with them. I hope I have better luck with OTG.

The weirdest thing about Guild Wars is that the Guild Wars were already over before the events of the original game.

Wow, Eyebeam is still alive and kicking. I thought they recruited you for that new show DMV, lol. Nice to hear from you.

I am a max level character that is discovering the game lol. I bought the game and all of its expansions and used my max level boost. I am learning how to use my class as I explore the game. I’m getting close to 60% world completion on my main character, and I have been working on the story as well. I do have a toon that I’m leveling up from scratch so if you ever need someone to play, I’d like to learn the game with you as well
