In my dad’s library there were a number of extraordinary humorist writings, the best of which was written by one Patrick F. McManus. One of my favorite books is called “A Fine and Pleasant Misery” which my dad gifted to me one Christmas along with a collection of his children’s books like “Kid Camping from Aaaaiii to Zip” and “They Shoot Canoes Don’t They?”
I thought to share this with anyone who loves this type of writing (and I’m sure there are many) because the humor is so down to earth and in some cases, belly achingly funny. Many of his writings can be found on Amazon but I was fortunate enough that my dad had a complete collection in his book store and passed many along to my sisters and me.
Man, I remember reading his books when I was younger. My parents turned me onto his writing, really good stuff. I may have to go back and read some of those books again.
