Guild Banking – The War Within Edition
The purpose of this post is to make sure members understand how the guild bank works, and the rules the Horde Chapter has implemented to ensure it is used fairly and kept from becoming too disorganized.
THE LOGISTICS AND RULES:
The guild bank has two purposes: providing a daily amount of funds for repairs and allowing members to share items with one another. For The War Within, it has been cleaned up and reorganized to better serve guild members going forward, prioritizing current expansion items and items that remain valuable for members across expansions.
Also, please keep in mind that the guild bank and its resources are for OTG members only. It is not acceptable to remove items for friends outside the guild, nor to take items to just sell for personal profit.
The guild bank will be periodically cleaned and organized by officers, and this will include selling off items we have an overabundance of and depositing the funds back into the guild bank for repairs.
TAB ORGANIZATION
And with the logistics and rules out of the way, the current organizational method is as follows:
Tab 1 – Misc
- Place items that don’t have a good other home in this tab
- When donating an item to the guild bank, please think about if the item will be helpful to someone else in the guild.
Tab 2 – Gear and Tmog
- For helpful gear items and transmog
- If too many of a single item are added, extras will be sold for the guild
Tab 3 – TWW Items
- For items from the current expansion (that wouldn’t go in recipes, reagents, consumables, etc.)
- Ideally crafted things that aren’t toys, consumables, etc.
Tab 4 – Recipes
- For recipes! These are always useful!
Tab 5 – Toys Pets Mounts
- For unwanted toys, pets, and mounts that another guildie can adopt!
Tab 6 – TWW Consumables
- For items from the current expansion
- If the item isn’t from the current xpac, it should go in tab 8
Tab 7 – TWW Reagents
- For crafting reagents
- If the item isn’t from the current xpac, it should go in tab 8
Tab 8 – Old Xpac Items
- For items from an older Xpac that still can be of value to another member
COMMON QUESTIONS:
How does the guild make money?
It makes money in two ways – weekly guild challenges and donations. Donations are never required, but also never turned down. Members can donate gold directly into the guild bank, but should never feel compelled to do so.
How many items can I take out of the guild bank?
Each tab of the bank should tell you how many items you can remove per day. Currently, 3 items can be removed per day per tab.
How do I access the guild bank?
The guild bank can be found in most banks, separate from the normal banker. It can also be accessed via a chest through the guild perk “Mobile Banking”. The perk has a cooldown of several hours.
What should I donate to the guild bank?
Consider if the item is truly helpful to other guildies and if it needs to take up a valuable bank slot when donating something. Things that are generally helpful to donate include:
- Current expansion items, including reagents, gear, tend to be helpful to most members, so the bank prioritizes room for these.
- Items that improve a member’s collection, such as transmog, pets, toys, mounts, are always helpful even if from another expansion.
- Lockboxes are always fun, feel free to donate these.
Things that are less helpful include:
- With reagents and many other items now regional on the auction house, these items are much less valuable on the server, and thus there is less of a reason for us to hoard them away – especially for older expansions.
- Low-level gear items. (Unless it can be learned as transmog!) With how easy leveling is these days, a random ilvl 33 necklace isn’t going to be of much help for very long.
Ultimately, use common sense when donating to the guild bank. If there is already an overabundance of an item that you wish to donate, please don’t pile more on unless it’s from the current xpac. Remember that you are always welcome to vendor any item that you wish to donate and simply deposit the money in the guild bank. A lot of the time, the gold is far more helpful than the 17 gems that you just cut while leveling your jewelcrafting skill.
~Huge thanks to @Endressa for maintaining our bank!
