I probably need to calm down. People who’ve gotten early copies of Rage of Elements are saying the Arcane Spell list AoEs in it are actually pretty good. And after looking Howling Blizzard (formerly Cone of Cold) it’s actually not that bad. The ranged burst option should make it much more usable. The 2d6 damage nerf still sucks tho.

So! I got my copy of the Rage of Elements pdf today.

The Kineticist looks okay.

But I’m actually pretty excited from what I have seen in the spells section. To spoil one example, there is a cantrip called “Slashing Gusts” that is a spell attack cantrip that attacks two monsters similar to electric arc! It does 2d4 damage to each target at level one and MAP isn’t applied until after both attacks have been rolled. It also has a critial bleed effect for an additional 1d4 that also scales with level! And it even has a 60 foot range which will be great when playing on big maps (queue sir-mix-alot).

It looks like there’s a lot of other solid blasting spells in here too. Interestly there’s a lot of nifty reaction spells.

Overall I’m feeling pretty optmistic about the future of the game. It’s a shame we’ll have to give up our characters soon.

I got the first module of the Dwarven Adventure for Foundry. I may read it today…

[Edit] Derp! I can’t open the module in Foundry unless I update to a newer version of the software/ruleset than we are running…

Watching the Paizo GenCon keynote.

Starfinder 2nd Edition coming 2025. Playtest player’s guide available summer 2024. “Completely compatible” with PF2.

Lots of really exciting announcements. I wonder what these two new mystery classes will be!

I was kind of confused by the new classes announcement actually. They said something about linking together the rulebooks and lost omens stuff.

It’s almost certainly not going to happn, but I would absolutely love to see an unarmored sword fighting character in the vein of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Are you getting your Tian Xia Samurai and Ninja classes? Sept 1st playtest!

In other news I um bought the game I said I wasn’t going to buy. So now I can make a doublet-wearing troubader with a perm who serenades badgers.

I think they had previously announced that these were going to be classes that we hadn’t seen in PF1. Or maybe they will just give a prevously existing class a new name, e.g. “Shinobi” instead of “Ninja”?

I just watched the salient parts of the Remaster Panel at GenCon (via the comfort of my living room and youtube) and freezed the frame at critical moments to get an idea of what is going on with wizards. It doesn’t look like too much has changed except that specialist schools are kind of like sorcerer bloodline spells now. I really wish they had just given wizards (and casters in general) Counterspell for free. Seems kind of ho-hum overall.

I feel like we didn’t really get enough info to know whether the witch will be any better in the remaster or not. No mention of changes to # of spell slots. No mention of specific buffs to focus spells. They are claiming that Witch’s armaments is better than Eldirtch Nails but unless it has the finesse trait then I’m not sure what good it would do. The ceremonial dagger feat sounds thematically cool but… wouldn’t it be just as effective to carry a wand and save the 6th level feat for a lesson or something?

Athletic activities… why did they not take the opportunity to combine long jump and high jump into a single activity? Isn’t the goal of the remaster to clean things up and make it easier for new players? In fact, they’re kind of going in the wrong direction by adding more activities. Do we really need a seperate activity for Reposition? Why not just make Shove a little more flexible?

~funny French accent~ Twenty-nine days later…

So, we’re all super busy tonight right? Right?!?

@Rando you seem to be feeling under the weather? Are you sure you don’t want to take a break from DMing tonight? Its a US holiday weekend as well. Spoon and I are going to be very busy sitting at our computers doing nothing at all Labor Day related for the weekend. … and you killed my bear …

I like where y’alls heads are at. I’ve been having this weird condition lately, where I’ll close my eyes and just see spots. Like a field of stars. Like a starfield. It’s soooo weird.

I’ll see everyone next week then!

Seeing all kinds of lights too and hearing music … Spoon and I have been having the same thing … seems to be going around.

Something weird is going on. I’m only on my second character.

@ocelot Ding level 10 on Zanistra! We already incremented her level to 10 to increase her hitpoints, AC, saves, etc, but didn’t pick any feats/spells/stuff.

I was just re-reading the entry for Shadow Siphon because I was confused about why it was useless last night against that Crushing Despair spell or whatever it was.

The cast entry says: “Trigger A spell or magical effect deals damage:”

So technically Zanistra wouldn’t have been able to cast it in the first place.

I guess you could say, I got “trigger happy”!

Yay, the party is triumphant and has defeated Belcorra and stopped her evil plans of having the Guantlight shine it on Absalom and/or Otari and destroy them forever!

And… scene.
