[Finished] PF2 - Big Troubles in Little Otari Extravaganza (Sundays, 8-11 EDT)

So:

  1. yeah, Glendon could have picked which square to send the hoppy boy when it failed to shove him not just away from him like I said

  2. assuming I/we didn’t realize part 1, Glendon was flat-footed while climbing and would have been deaded

Is it just me, or are there a lot fewer floaty ghosty things on this level? Like, maybe Zanistra can finally pack fireball install of level 3 magic missile?

Have to say Zircon was on fire last night. I think there might’ve been one round where he completely wiffed but other than that - lots of hits and lots of crits. Also, that Tiger Stance.

Yeah but how’s his tree climbing? :smirk:

So, we’re approaching level 6 and Zanistra is thinking more about crafting a new staff.

When we eventually go back to town at level 6 how much downtime is everyone willing to spend? Once all of the materials have been sourced it normally takes 4 days to roll the check plus an optional number of additional days to discount up to 50% of the cost of the item. If I am reading table 4-2 (p236) correctly, Zanistra could deduct 2gp per day from the cost up to half the cost of the staff (115 gp). Being an elf, she happily keep working until the full 115 gp discount is applied - or 58 days.

How do her shorter lived friends feel about this?

I’ll have the server up next week around 7:00ish so y’all can finish up dinging level 6 before we get started.

Confirmed: We are doing the Dragonlance/Krynn adventure at the conclusion of the Abomination Vaults (of which we are a little past half).

We’ll also talk next week about y’all’s upcoming Thanksgiving weekend and everyone’s availability.

So confirmed! We are off next week. Happy Bird Day. I will see all of you (except Ocelot and Stompey) on Dec 4th.

I am unable to play this week. Sorry. See you all next week.

So we’re off on the 25th. Merry Christmas everyone.

We’re on for the 1st unless I don’t know something anyone else knows?

I’ve been thinking of what my character will be like in the next campaign. I have a few different ideas with two major variations.

In the first variation, my alter ego is an illegal immigrant from Nidal. Most likely she is fleeing the authorities in Nidal and with Thrunes new crack down, in danger of herself or loved ones being deported.

She would be a human or possibly a Tiefling of Kyton lineage. Likely classes would be either a Shadow Sorcerer or a Rogue.

In the second variation she would be of Tian ethnicity but most likely a native of Ravounel. She might be a Draconic Sorcerer or possibly a fighter. I also kind of toyed with the idea of a Bard but I’ve never been good at visualizing the Bard fantasy.

Anyway, that’s more or less where my head is at.

I was looking at either a halfling sniper gunslinger or a goblin ruffian rogue. either way sneaky and hard to keep in one place. one ranged the other would be in melee with a reach weapon.

I have read through the player’s guide some for the adventure. With it being in a mainly human city, I am wondering if Low-Light vision would be enough for a stealthy character or if I need to try and start with dark vision. I am not very hidden if I need a torch to see when there isn’t any light around.

The Halfling can go Tiefling for Fiendish Eyes at lvl 1, it just pushes back the Halfling Luck feat line (which I was kind of building on to make the Gunslinger more reliable). The Goblin has DV by default.

As far as the Bard fantasy, the way I look at it is more removed from the campaign. The bard is the person in the tavern telling old war stories about glory. They embellish the deeds of their group or the weaknesses of the enemy. Something like Varric narrating in Dragon Age or in our party’s case the narrator from the Stanley Parable. You are changing who has advantage/inside information or making fun of our terrible luck when the dice go bad.

I really dislike how the Bard in D&D has come to be known as the sex addict/seducer joke. The bard should be the face, the entertainer, the loremaster of the party, telling stories and putting on a show at every tavern the party stops at. At least, that is how I like to play a bard. Come to think of it, I have not played a bard in a long time…me thinks my next ttrpg character is going to be a bard.

There’s a lot of halflings in Kintargo/Ravounel/Cheliax. And tieflings are much more common than in other parts of Golarion, though still not abundant. Everyone else is as common as they are typically in other parts of the world.

It’s been our experience in other games that the stealth character without darkvision isn’t really a thing unfortunately - especially if you plan on stealthing ahead to scout and stuff.

There’s “lots” of devils in the adventure who almost all have greater darkvision which lets them see even inside a darkness spell. So parts of the adventure will take place in total darkness. A lot of the typical “dungeons” in the adventure, however, are urban environments populated by humanoids who need light to see. So torches and stuff will be present.

Obviously darkvision is super handy, but I’m old-school and believe that the party should being using torches, lanterns, light spells (and halos!) and the “bad” guys are the ones who hang out in the darkness. But you guys do you.

One of the major NPCs in the adventure is a bard who works/worked out of the Kintargo Opera House (one of the major locations in the city). I think at least one of the backgrounds in the player’s guide mentions her???..???

Speaking of, the player’s guide for the PF1 version of Hell’s Rebels is available here (<-- link incase y’all don’t realize it’s a link).

All of the “lore” stuff in there is applicable. Obviously the feats and backgrounds and stuff are doing stuff mechanically that needs to be changed/modified/scrapped for PF2. I’ll get the updated version of that document into your hands "Soon"™.

Halfling sniper gunslinger or goblin ruffian rogue - got it.

Let me know if you start leaning toward one or another. If you opt for the gunslinger I think I might go with a thief racket rogue for my Nidalese character. Likewise I could go with a ranged (bow wielding) fighter if you go rogue instead.

For the ranged fighter concept I’ve always thought it would be cool to roleplay as a daughter of one of the Furies - delivering judgment from above.

Yeah, I think I’m just not feeling the Bard. I feel bad about that because it seems like the designers have gone out of their way to make them useful.

This is why I’m having second thoughts about the shadow sorcerer idea. Those powers might help the enemy more than us :slightly_frowning_face:

Are we doing free archetype this time around?

I think we’re pretty much wedded to the idea now, so yeah.

yay!

I’ll setup a new thread for the next adventure um… "Soon"™. Or I could just edit this one ("Soon"™). Hmm…

So free archetype is on the table eh?

Question: are you allowing the Runelord archetype? Not sure where this AP sits in the timeline relative to the return of Thassilon.

Re: Runelord archetype. Sure.

Hell’s Rebels takes place after Rise of the Runelords and Shattered Star but before Return of the Runelords. Folks know about rune magic, the sihedron rune, etc, but New Thassilonn and/or the Runelords themselves are not a thing (yet).

[Edit] spelled sihedron correctly
