I’ll be preordering as soon as it’s possible. 19.99 with a month sub included is a great price! Everquest was my first MMO and I remember long ago when I was new (I started right as Kunark dropped) the subscription price was 9.99 and I’m happy to see then sub price for this one is also 9.99.

I found out about EQ from a instructor for a SGI or maybe SUN unix admin. course while I was at NASA Ames. I was talking to him about a rouge variant I was playing on my PC. He was the one who told me about EQ. I started about 3 months after launch back in 1999.

I’m off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and OMG the way the pre-order, access to beta, and launch just align my stars something lucky!

I wonder when we will (what hour) be able to submit our pre-order. I plan to use my alter ego name I had for my barb warrior. Played him from 1999 into 2005 and popped in a couple times in 2006.

I can’t express how excited I am. Counting the days … slowly … is awful. lol. Hope to make a couple friends and explore so many places I never thought to visit. Probably due to I was afraid of dying and possibly losing everything … happened to me twice in my EQ career.

Yeah those corpse runs could be brutal lol. I knew NOTHING about MMOs when I first started playing and made a Highlander (pretty sure she was a warrior of some sort – I can’t remember the classes… ack). Later I made a different character and remember going into a town with the housing in the trees and being showered with equipment as a newbie. Turned out it was just some dudes hitting on me (how they knew I was really a female I have no idea… I did not voice chat then either, but I did make a female character so maybe that was enough lol)

I remember grinding some mobs for eyeballs, attacking some huge monster in a group (don’t even remember what boss it was) and dying repeatedly because I didn’t know what I was doing, running around some frozen area…

Typing ā€œDINGā€ and ā€œWOOTā€ in chat when I levelled.
And just generally having a great time.

And I remember when ā€œsomeoneā€ (who shall remain nameless but was definitely not me! No way no how uh uh shit) pulled a big group of mobs and everyone in my party wiped. Ah, good times.

I made a female gnome caster starting in Freeport or I got there some how. What I do remember is, as a female avatar, having a couple male avatars shower me with bags, money, invite as a friend and into their guild. My main barb warrior dude never received any unwanted attention like that for the years I played him. hahaha

Well, here’s my story: I was at a games convention and Keith Parkinson had a booth there and I was looking at his art when I saw the big spread that said Everquest. 'What’s that?" I asked and he explained about this new game coming out where you could play different characters and classes and I got excited so he told me the testing was still going on but he gave me an email address to write to and I ended up getting into Phase 4 where I got some first hand experience at corpse runs in Crushbone. While at the booth (where I bought the big EQ art poster and it’s signed and above by desk at this moment) I noticed his wife looked amazingly like Firiona Vie in the picture…he used her as a model! She was really pleasant in real life…they both were. I wish I had more money because I would have bought more of his stuff. Anyway, this was my second MMO…I think, back in the day Sierra had a game called ā€˜Shadows of Yserbius.’ It was really primitive but you could run around and fight stuff with other people…even if your characters looked just like game counters on a board but that gave me a taste of the possible fun to be had and things just keep rolling on. I never ran a female character in the early days because I kept thinking…'but I’m a guy." Later, during my early WOW times a friend of mine ran nothing but female characters and I finally asked him what the deal was. His reply: ā€œWhose rear end would you rather look at while you are running around?ā€ So these days about half of my characters are female but no one ever hit on them or tried to get them into a guild. Maybe it was because they were orcs and trolls?

Thank you…

Got my pre-order in. Had no issues with the website other than the delay + under maintenance page.

Name reservations will take place when we log in to the 2nd Beta server (everyone will be new) on 1st July Brasse mentioned.

I’m not a big Discord user but EQL does have a Discord incase anyone didn’t know/think of it. Brasse is the Community Manager and as such relays info and answers alot of questions.

I created a barb warrior back in 1999 on 7th Hammer. I might have been level 3 to … under 10. I was returning to Halas about to run up that snow touched stone ramp when I saw a bag on the ground. O M G /flips hair /rollseye

It was a 8 slot large back pack and duh duh duh … inside some kind soul included like 80 plat , a Greater Light stone, and a couple other items I can’t remember any more. Maybe a couple more bags?

Couple days later a barb warrior in his late 20’s - early 30’s ā€œGalil Light of Harmonyā€ was selling his two Langsaex of the Wolves. He wanted 100plat iirc and I offered him 70ish plat. He accepted it. I told him I’ll look up you and your guild when I get in my 40’s. Months later I did. Sent him a tell and he remembered me and when I became part of the guild I caught up with him. Returned his two blades back to him.

My first character was a human paladin out of freeport. Months later a couple online friends travelled with me to Lower Guk to try and get a FBSS for me. Y’know … to help me, a paladin, do some damage. We reached the room and there was a group there already. Well, a monk and his friend. The monk asked/listened to what brought us there. He, the monk, asked me what and why I wanted a FBSS … that I wasn’t there to get one to sell. I assured him I was there to help my damage output. Next thing … a trade widow appears and he offered a FBSS to me for free.

Years later … I joined OTG in the Hellgate London transit tunnels and officially joined the guild in 2008 with Conan. I eventually shared my experience (above) and shit you not … that same monk was a member of OTG too replying to my post he was him way back then.

What an awesome tale! OTG members have always been amazing, kind, helpful people even way back when (and even when there wasn’t yet an OTG).

Man I miss Hellgate London. Sigh. I played the hell out of that game and was soooo disappointed when the online bits shut down. RIP Flagship.

I still load up the single player once in a while… but now I can’t find where I put my external DVD player when I switched to my new computer so uh… crap my Hellgate CD is still inside it somewhere. lol

Well since @Chevette and I are trying/playing EQL I guess we can create a casual OTG guild where we can all socialize. Grouping, 8 player raids, etc. are members ideas to run with (i.e. no formal officers).
