Yeah I work closely with one of the orgs that is running security for the event and they have been running practice ops for the past few weeks. It is kinda a big deal 
I love that meta game angle… players protecting other players driving around.
And even more, I love that anyone could turn up and just pirate the whole game… amazing player driven content
