bad thunder storms in my area. lost power once already

I’ve been making characters the past two days in the (likely) chance that Rage of Elements won’t be ready on Aug 3rd in Hero Lab or Fantasy Grounds.

It’s hard.

Given the constraints of the current party composition and the expectations of the adventure path, I’ve come up with the following:

  • The Acrobat Druid (Rating: D)
    – Half-Elf Rogue (Acrobat)/Druid
    – another melee damage dealer without range, not ideal; very lethal, that’s bad
    – backup healer
    – pretty good defenses, good hitpoints
    – can go everywhere Drogoon goes

  • The Eldritch Archer (Rating: C)
    – Human Fighter (Eldritch Archer)/Druid
    – hits like a truck from ranged, that’s good; very lethal, that’s bad
    – backup healer
    – pretty good defenses, good hitpoints
    – can almost go everywhere Drogoon goes

  • The Zen Archer (Rating: C+)
    – Human Monk/Druid
    – hits slightly less often and for slightly less damage than the Eldritch Archer but…
    – has amazing defenses, amazing mobility, good hitpoints
    – backup healer
    – can almost go everywhere Drogoon goes

  • The Leshy Samurai (Rating: C-)
    – Leshy Fighter/Druid
    – hits like a truck melee, that’s unfortunate, but has some reach shenanigans; very lethal, that’s bad
    – good defenses, great hitpoints
    – backup healer
    – that’s right… a katana!
    – amazing token/portrait!

  • The Sorc… yeah no cool name/build/backstory just purely meta (Rating: B)
    – Half-Elf Sorcerer(Champion)/Wizard
    – flexible utility, debuff, buff, and damaging spellcaster; weak single target damage
    – can do non-lethal stuff!
    – great AC, adequate/poor defenses, low hitpoints
    – best healer in the party (sorry Eldrict)
    – no backstory, no portrait, no token, no raison d’être besides raw usefulness

The Kobold Champion died on the vine but had an amazing portrait.

The Dwarven Rogue/Champion was neat but not for this adventure nor for this party.

All reworks of Tammy-Lynn failed. Clerics suck.

The Aldori Swordlord/Fighter/Rogue was fun but not for this adventure nor for this party.

The dual wield flickmace fighter was insane but too munchkin even for me.

All attempts at wizards, witches, and druids failed. I loathe prepared spellcasting.

There was a Bard/Champion but it’s just a worse Sorc for this adventure. Would be really useful though.

Haven’t got Rage of Elements yet so haven’t made any kineticists.

You could try a Magus. That would give me an excuse to use Celebguar.

I don’t like Magi. And what’s a Celebguar?

[Edit] I made a Magus… Starlit Span. Thusly Drogoon is alone in melee range. The Eldritch Archer is better (I feel? think?) at single target damage (unless the Magus is dropping Shocking Grasps on every hit) and is more survivable, but the Magus could drop some AoE stuff that (maybe?) won’t be resisted by trash mobs. The Zen Archer is still the most survivable and most mobile but does the least amount of damage.

P.S. Why the F does the Magus get so many damn spells in their spellbook that they are never going to cast? I swear I spent more time fiddling with the spellbook than anything else in character creation.

I made a barbarian. Ugh. I also made a ranger and a melee monk. Ugh. In my not so humble opinion, since fighters exist these classes might as well not.

Well since Rando is the only one talking about a new character Im guessing we didn’t TPK? Which is good because I don’t really want to make a new character at this time. Although it sounds like I could just use one of the 10,000 ones that Rando has sitting around

Looking forward to Thursday see you all then.

I didn’t promise to not kill Drogoon whilst under my control but everyone else conspired to make sure that that didn’t happen. Robbed.

In the (likely?) event that I can’t have a Kineticist ready for Thursday I present Dathlue Mistwinter “Lady Steel” (Sorcerer/Rogue/Wizard), emissary/diplomat of the elven nation of Kyonin to The Magaambya/Nantambu who stepped through one of the many aiudara (elf portal) in Iadara (capital of Kyonin) with the intended destination of Nantambu found herself lost in the jungle near Lake Terwa instead. Accustomed to handling situations via dialog, stealth, or magic, she managed to arrive at the nearby settlement of Bloodsalt with little trouble.

P.S. Doesn’t actually carry either a staff or a sword, but it certainly looks cool.
P.P.S. Yeah I stole the name. I’ve loved it since I read about her back in 2E.
P.P.S. Yeah I didn’t bother taking a campaign background nor does she have any of the bonuses from picking a primary and secondary branch.

I forgot to remind you guys last Thursday but I will be at GenCon this week. So no Thursday night game for me.

So I get another chance at killing a someone else’s character this week!?!?

~evil hand rubbing~

[Edit 1]
And I’m not sure why I keep forgetting we don’t incorporate bases in our “mini” tokens.

So I took the base off Dathlue’s token and um… I have no idea why this morning transparent .PNGs shared on onedrive are showing black backgrounds and have corrupted files upon download.

[Edit 2]
FGU apparently has support for .webp (and .webm) files for tokens, portraits, and maps.

So here… (297 kb .PNG to 48 kb .WEBP)

~image link removed~

[Edit 3]
Weird. It downloads as a 244 kb .WEBP. /boggle

[Edit 4]
And the download is corrupted…

So here:

Since I missed last week and I’m old and don’t pay much attention to game things all the time. I realized BG3 is released today. Not sure if this was talked about???

I’m looking forward to playing tonight but wanted to make sure others might be in the same boat I was and not realize release was today and some might be playing that?

Not I (RE: BG3)!

Rage of Elements is available in Hero Lab Online, Pathbuilder, Foundry, and in PDF form from Paizo (obviously). Fantasy Grounds will have it in a “couple of days” according to Trenloe. Archives of Nethys isn’t updated yet.

So, given the above we’ll just go with Dathlue being my new character. I honestly want to see what a “real” spell caster is like from the player’s side of the table.

PF2HATES spell casters, I tried and tried but I hated the last one I played.

I thought it released tomorrow

I wouldn’t know anything about this personally, but some people say that Spell Penetration is an excellent feat to annoy the GM.
