Ok Hidden Tree entertainment is having an open beta test of their game Adrullen Online Adventures (formerly known as Evercraft) a minecraft graphical styled MMORPG. I went in thinkingg oh heck no I am not gonna like this reminds me too much of Minecraft. This game is not minecraft it just looks like minecraft graphics wise. That being said I decided to jump in and test especially when the developers stated
you will keep your progress from this test to use in the next test
(my guess is so they will have a good pool of higher level people to test the group focused dungeon content for the next beta test phase)
The game is Cute. The quests givers do not have “!” to guide you to in-game quests forcing you to talk to npc’s to find out if they have “tasks” for you to do.. I believe they have a flagging system in-place that allows an NPC to not offer quests to you unless they like you. IE some npc’s in Leont (the good city) not liking Necromancers especially the Paladin’s guild that worship the “Good” diety will Kill you on sight! as one example there are quite a few others.
The game is a true beta. There are bugs. My most hated bug is that the “deathroot” that necromancers use to summon corpses for people weighs a whopping 10lbs way too heavy for a weak robed caster to carry around. Someone misplaced a decimal in their database
This should get fixed by next beta round one would hope!
You can solo in this game, for those antisocial gamers out there, but the devs have put in an xp bonus for those that want to be social and group up and the experience does not feel as grindy if you do so.
The Crafting system is a work in progress. I did not test all crafts but i did do cooking. The cooking trainer in Leont had recipes up to lvl 10, which is not the max level so higher level recipes are either not in yet or are found elsewhere in the game. Now I did find a special recipe out in the world the fisher NPC’s have a “fish soup” where i was verbally give a recipe but could not find the actual npc that sold that recipe so not sure if its actually in yet.
This test run ends later today but there will be more test phases coming. Cheers, Calicobard
