Starfinder 2E Homework

Do we know if Heph is going to support 2e?

I might regret this…

What’s a “Heph”?

Some timeframe expectations and such…

I am currently running 1 and a 1/2 nights a week of Pathfinder 2E with two separate groups. (What does 1/2 mean? I’m sharing a night running PF2 with another GM, it’s presently my turn.) Both groups are currently in the midst of the second module of their respective three module adventure path. One of those groups will have to finish their current run of PF2 before I’ll start any new Starfinder campaign. That’s going to be fall (Oct?) at the earliest.

It sounds like there is enough interest here from people posting who are currently not in one of my PF2 games to run another group. GMing three nights of PF2/SF2 a week? Eek. Doable but, eek. If all groups are running the same damn adventure… maybe?

Pretty sure he means Hephaistos, a Starfinder character creator site/app

Same adventure means that the groups can race each other. The gamification of a game. So meta! Of course, I can already see the descent into barbarism to speed things along.

Yes, sorry.

So um…

I’ve been struggling to find any decent software and/or assets for sci-fi map making that:

  • are decent quality
  • easy to use
  • a price I’m willing to pay

And I’m drawing a blank.

There’s other further news coming out of Paizo Con a few weeks back regarding SF2.

  • there’s a SF2 ruleset for Foundry VTT that the (Paizo) team has been using internally for their playtesting, it will be ready to go for all of us when the playtest goes live
  • there’s going to be two pre-made adventures - one level 1, one level 10 - also ready to go in Foundry when the playtest goes live

I’ll probably end up running either or both of those adventures. I’ll have sign ups and what not when that goes live, but sadly at this time I think the generational-ship campaign idea is shelved indefinitely. /sad-panda-face

Hopefully (???) with SF2’s 100% compatibility with PF2 we’ll get more support in the 3rd party tools (map-making, character builders, campaign planners, music/sound-effects, etc) for SF2 in the future that PF2 currently enjoys. Hopefully. Fantasy is just more popular in all forms of media with the possible exception of fiction/literature. /sad-shrug

I was reminded that I own a SF1 Adventure Path - Fly Free or Die - that we never finished the first module of, let alone the remaining five! This reminder sparked joy. Looks like an entire Starfinder campaign is back on the menu boyz!

Mind you that adventure path as written only goes to level 13 (in SF1 rules); we’ll see what can be done to scale it when we get our grubby hands on the SF2 playtest book. Maybe we can scale it between levels 1 to 20. Maybe.

Yay.

So apparently this entire time the folks at Paizo have been using the plain ol’ vanilla PF2 ruleset for Foundry to do all their internal testing - with added data compendiums for the new classes, ancestries, feats, spells, items, etc.

Who knew?

So day one of Gencon, when the playtest and stuff goes live, apparently the SF2 data compendium will also be available (in Foundry). I believe the SF2 scenarios will be available for free (in Foundry) but the two adventures will need to be purchased and will have the full Foundry support with updated maps and shit; I don’t know if the Foundry versions of the adventures will be available day one, however.

After I get all that setup and/or read, I’ll post a thread for interest purposes.
