I was looking at the value based on Quality rating. on some of the old magic cards. I know some of the alphas will fetch a good penny as opposed to a bad penny.
The black lotus which recorded approximately a $150,000 value was rated at 9.5 the ones rated a 9.0 fall off drastically to about 57,000. I imagine the Black Lotus which sold for $400,000+ was in the 9.8 to 10.0 rating.
