GOTM n stuff

So as you may or may not know… EQ2 is the OTG Game of the month.

This means we’ll have a bunch of folks logging on that we might not see again after a month, or who might stick around.

One of the things that we are doing is promoting their GOTM toons to regular members so that they can use our amenities.

I would also like to do a guild event such as the race through Pilchicks place, or Gratas human dart tourney for them. Toss up some ideas of some other stuff we could do as well. (probably not going to scar them with a panty raid… I know how much Grata likes those.

One of the things that I have heard often over the years is how the EQ2 chapter is the most open and inviting chapter in the guild. I have ZERO worries that that reputation is in danger.

They will be using the Discord server instead of our usual mumble channels, Which raises the number of programs/forums I need to learn and set up over the next week to 6… ish. Now in my old age I understand the resistance to change.

I’ll be logging on, again, and probably asking for a guild invite, again… lol

I’ve been in and out of EQ2 for the last… 8 years? I never seem to be able to stick around though. But I did get my butterfly collection!

It looks like they will “Officially Start” On Wednesday Night, Sept 5th.
We do need to work with Discord a bit. I know change is bad, but we’ve heard some good things about Discord. I’d like to see us bite the bullet and transition to Discord. If somehow it sucks we can always go back to Mumble.
I think some fun events would be great. I’m good with us using the House of Pilchick again. I haven’t changed anything in there in regards to the climbing course.

So how do we go about adding our characters to the guild in EQ2, since I’m sure we shouldn’t all be mailing Rum

Any officer or member of the help can invite you once you’re in game.

If you hit “u” in game it pulls up the guild screen. Just search out otg.

Shout out to @Rosyposy for the awesome bags! I can actually organize my stuff! :star_struck:

Thanks also for the in-game invite too EQ2 Staff!
(I clicked accept too fast to see who threw it out. )

What’s the quest limit like? (Free to Play.)

I’m starting to collect a bunch and a lot have turned grey. Should I just pass those up and go with the on-level quests?

Then all I need to do is find crafting and get totally sucked in.

You can F2P up to level 100, and the Altar of Malice xpac (Tranquil & Phantom Seas).

If grey quests only offer gear that’s not an upgrade for you, I would delete those. Some grey quests may offer house items, shinies, status or faction - I tend to run those anyway. Quests marked Heroic or Heritage are good to run anyway. If you’re not sure about a quest, look it up on the wiki: https://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/EverQuest_2_Wiki:Main_Page
You are likely to find additional information there. (The wiki is updated by players, so occasionally it is outdated or inaccurate, however it’s usually a good source of info.)
There ARE restrictions on F2P - can’t use certain text chat channels, Fast Travel isn’t free, can’t buy or sell on the broker (I think you can buy broker tokens on the marketplace if you really need). My characters will always be happy to buy something for you; just ask.

Once a quest is grey… You’ve out leveled it, and shouldn’t feel bad about deleting it. Heritage and signature quests however are worth completing once you hit level 50 or so. Before then hadens earring is the only one that really stays useful. Unless you are a race or class that can breathe underwater.

Crafting has some interesting quests that are worth doing. The harvester cloak is a pain, but worth doing.

I generally do quests that make sense, or that are followups of previous ones, even when they’re grey

But there are FAR too many quests in the world to want to do all of them, so you’ll inevitably leave behind large swathes of grey quests.

Thanks all for the replies!

Yeah, I’ve seen that in quite a few games.

I was mostly wondering how big the quest log was for FTP. If there is a limit to how many you can have. I’ll figure it out.

There is a limit, but there is also a limit for subbed accounts.

It will say in the journal screen X/Y quests active… or something

If you go over, you get a warning. So you can delete something and get a replacement

And after 3 warnings, you get banned. :open_mouth:

Oh no

Oh no sillies, we don’t Ban folks. Banning is cruel, unusual, and nothing NEAR as sadistic as or choice of punishment.
We will sit you down and start to discuss the pros and cons of each and every quest, forcing you to make harsh decisions and delete them, only to throw our hands up and scream “NO YOU FOOL! NOT THAT ONE!!! YOU HAVE RUINED THE ENTIRE GAME, NOTHING WILL EVER MAKE SENSE AGAIN AND REALITY AS WE KNOW IT WILL… oh wait you deleted that one? Oh that’s fine, lets move on…”
